STEM Curriculum Organization
STEM K12 12: School/program provides high-quality STEM courses and curriculum aligned to recognized standards and organized into interdisciplinary frameworks.
Impact Narrative:
Our current theme is “Building Engineers for the Future” with that in mind, we utilize the grade-level content standards, the engineering design process, and crosscutting concepts, along with problems we currently face in our community, to drive our PBLs.
Kindergarten through fifth-grade teachers participates in weekly PLCs across 4 content areas to unpack standards and learning targets, determine success criteria, develop integrated lessons, plan PBLs, and other inquiry-based learning activities.
Areas of Strength:
Areas of Opportunity:
Over the past two years, teachers have continually improved in developing integrated PBL plans; however, there is an opportunity for improvement as it relates to the leadership team developing a plan to catalog, share and store PBL curriculum, and procedures that will safeguard sustained program implementation.
Initiatives/Actions:
Students engage in two Project - Based Learning experiences each school year.
Each PBL integrates Reading/ELA, Math, Science and includes learning targets in all subject areas.
PBL Unit plans are reviewed and revised for clarity and alignment to grade-level standards.
